An important Catalan composer, Antonio Soler was a student of Domenico Scarlatti in Madrid. In 1752, Soler assumed the position of Maestro di Capella of the Jeronymite order at the Escorial. Soler was one of the most outstanding theorists of the period and an important mathematician. Soler was also engaged in the construction of organs.
