Anton Rubinstein short biography

Only rivaled by Liszt, a great Russian pianist, composer and teacher, Anton Rubinstein had an enormous influence on the creation and development of musical, artistic and educational life in Russia.  In 1862, Anton Rubinstein founded the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Anton Rubinstein's brother, Nikolay Rubinstein, established a similar conservatory in Moscow. A very productive composer, Anton Rubinstein wrote over 500 compositions in virtually all genres.
