An important pianist and composer, Carl Reinecke is remembered as a teacher of many famous composers: Isaac Albeniz, Leos Janácek, Christian Sinding, Frederick Delius, Max Bruch and Edvard Grieg. In 1860, Reinecke assumed the positions of the director of the Gewandhaus concerts in Leipzig and professor of the Leipzig Conservatory. Reinecke wrote more than 300 compositions, most of them during the latest period of his life.
