A noted Austrian composer and music publisher, Anton Diabelli studied harmony and composition with Michael Haydn. In 1800 Diabelli joined the Raitenhaslach monastery. In 1803, Diabelli moved to Vienna, where he became a prominent teacher of piano and guitar. Diabelli established a very successful music publishing company, Cappi & Diabelli which published compositions of Beethoven and Schubert. Diabelli’s first published composition was Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations op.120.
