Henry Cowell short biography 

A noted American composer and one of the first researchers of folk music,  Henry Cowell began his professional music education at the University of California. Cowell wrote his first compositions at the age 15. Cowell later compositions were based on world music cultures, mainly non-European folk tunes. Cowell’s music with its employment of a rich variety of sounds were first such experiments in American music, widely used by the future generations of composers.
