William Byrd short biography
Universally recognized as the most important composer of the Elizabethan age, William Byrd was among very few English composers to be equal to the continental musicians. Byrd was an outstanding organist and easily entered the Chapel Royal, the sovereign's private establishment. The musical ideas of Byrd’s works survived and have become even more appreciated by music lovers and the Byrd’s genius has become even clearer through hundreds of recordings of his music.
