A noted 19^th Centure composer and educator, Burgmuller was born in Germany. Burgmuller studied under Spohr and Hauptmann, Later, Burgmuller moved to Paris and adopted Parisian music. Burgmuller enjoyed the immediate recognition of his music in the France where he lived for many years and wrote piano music in a light style used in Parisian salons. Many of Burgmuller's compositions are written for young musicians and his works are featured in piano concerts today.
